I was really jazzed with how the Apple store went above and beyond by honoring their 12-month warranty into the 13th month! Customer service is awesome! I received an identical 5th Gen iPod except that it worked and it didn’t look like it had been handled by Freddy Krueger.

I was determined to handle this replacement iPod with kid gloves. I bought the invisibleSHIELD from ShieldZone and applied it before ever taking the factory cover off of the new iPod. I’m telling you, this thing was going to look NEW for years… except…

10 months later my new iPod died.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE THINGS??? I have searched the net and know that there is a school of thought out there that the hard-drive-based iPods have a self-destruction timer which activates after one year (or if it’s a warranty replacement, sometime after 90 days).

Now the quandary… do I pay $199 for an 8gb Nano, hoping for a sturdier device or do I pay $249 (ONLY 50 BUCKS MORE!) for a device with TEN TIMES the capacity but one that will die in just over a year?

I’ll continue to think about it while I peruse the Archos website…

"Doing nothing is very hard to do… you never know when you’re finished."

“Doing nothing is very hard to do… you never know when you’re finished.”

- Leslie Nielsen, Actor

Signal Map

Signal Map: Find a Cell Phone Signal… Find user-generated cell phone signals by major service providers.
Two People… First Greeting of the Day:
Person 1: “Good morning.”
Person 2: “How’s it goin’?”

Same two people… Second Greeting of the Day:
Person 1: “‘Sup?”
Person 2: “Not much.”

Same two people… Third Greeting of the Day:
Person 1: smile & nod
Person 2: smile

And if you do this a fourth time, just tell the other guy, “If you say ‘hello’ to me one more time, I will kill you right here in the office.”

But every now and then, I experience “The Infinite Loop Greeting”. The Infinite Loop Greeting occurs when you’re passing someone in the office and one of you forget just how many greeting volleys have occured in a single exchange.

Person 1: “How’s it goin’?”
Person 2: “Not, bad how ‘bout you?”
Person 1: “Pretty good, and you?”

We have just entered The Infinite Loop Greeting. At this point, you are obligated in the name of human civility to cut this exchange off Band-Aid-style (fast and with real committment in order to spare further pain).
